Sporting Omaha FC Organizational Changes
Dear Sporting Omaha FC Players, Parents, Families, and Friends,
The Board of Directors announces Tim Bennett’s departure as Executive Director and Development Academy Director of Sporting Omaha FC effective Monday, July 22, 2019. Tim has played a critical role in the development and success of the organization, most notably establishing the affiliation with Major League Soccer Club Sporting KC with assistance from the Directors of Coaching, Ryan Kruse and Alex Mason, and the partnership with U.S. Soccer Girls’ Development Academy beginning in the 2018-2019 season. We want to thank Tim for his more than six years of service to our organization and wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors.
During this time, our accomplished staff, coaches and volunteers will continue to administer our programs while members of the Board of Directors will provide guidance and expertise as needed with respect to the oversight of the business management of the organization. It will be business as usual at Sporting Omaha FC.
Over the next few months, the Board of Directors will be conducting a national search to find a permanent replacement for the position of Development Academy Director. During this transition period, it is our priority to find the best individual to lead, while still maintaining a strong development program.
To ensure continuity and consistency of the Development Academy, the Board of Directors announces the appointment of Alex Mason as Interim Development Academy Director. Alex has been with Omaha Sporting FC for nearly 24 years most recently in the positions of Director of Coaching Girls and Head Coach of the Development Academy. Originally from London, England, Alex has extensive experience in the game of soccer and currently holds several licenses, including USSF A and NSCAA Premier. His appointment is effective immediately.
