Goalkeeper Program Objectives

At Sporting Nebraska FC we aim to develop a goalkeeper capable of playing modern soccer. Goalkeepers are no longer just the last line of defense, but also the first point of attack. Top Goalkeepers are viewed and utilized as the 11th outfield player as they are more involved with their feet than ever. We also still understand and stress the importance of the core goalkeeping skills; shot stopping, handling, dealing with crosses/aerial balls & communication. The goalkeeping curriculum will incorporate all of these aspects along with being designed to help our goalkeepers develop technically, tactically, physically and mentally while also building character. This training will be provided for all goalkeepers on select teams.
