SPORTING OMAHA FC PREMIER GIRLS
Sporting Omaha FC is excited to announce our girls’ program, SOFC Girls Premier. Being part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for the past two years has taught us a lot. Once the DA dissolved our staff was hard at work looking for the right fit for our girl’s program. Through numerous discussions we feel we have created a pathway for our girl’s program that will strength our players and the soccer community in our area. This opportunity will allow for more of our highly qualified staff coaches to be involved and keep a tighter integration between our girls from U9 all the way through U19.
Our Girl’s Premier Program is set to be distributed out to all of you in phases. With that said, we are proud to announce phase one, our acceptance into the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) - Regional League. SOFC will be part of the Heartland league. This league is our steppingstone back into the national platform. It will allow us to continue focusing on development of our players & club, as well as minimize our travel (which during this current pandemic is something we are genuinely concerned about).
A little background, Girls ECNL Regional Leagues are operated and managed by the Girls ECNL to insure a consistent environment and level of professionalism across all leagues. Each league allows improved coordination and collaboration between teams of different levels within ECNL clubs, or opportunity for teams and players in other clubs to develop through regular high-level competition. ECNL Girls Regional Leagues are designed to service a deeper player pool from member clubs of the ECNL, and to provide a competitive platform for objective evaluation of new clubs to become ECNL member clubs in the future.
This league will host our U13-U19 Premier girls’ teams. All our premier teams will travel together to each event weekend. This will allow for our coaching staff to work as a whole and cover teams as needed, similar to how we traveled in the DA. The main difference will be each team handle their own travel expenses through their team accounts. We will have more information on this as we move forward.
This is an extremely exciting time for our club. We look forward to the new leagues and seeing you all again.
