Omaha Academy

Ages: U8-U10

Come out for a great night of soccer, staff and friends...all for FREE!

Sporting Nebraska FC will hold FREE Omaha Academy Open House days of play for players born 2016-2014 (U8-U10) ready for a more competitive pathway in youth soccer. The Omaha Academy is a three year development program run by our Academy staff and directors. Training sessions focus on both the player's individual growth technically and tactically as a team. The Academy is a great place to start a player's journey into the competitive side of the game.

Players should come dressed and ready to play soccer. All sessions will be held at the Omaha Sports Complex, 14706 Giles Rd. Omaha, NE 68138

THE ACADEMY - A TOTAL TEACHING ENVIRONMENT

The ultimate purpose of the Sporting Nebraska FC Academy Program is to utilize a long-term, player-centered developmental structure, which is based on a coaching curriculum. The program will help enhance and increase the growth and development of each player.

The Academy program is designed to promote fun, efficient, and educational training sessions that will motivate and challenge each player, while developing within his or her own ability level. The Sporting Nebraska FC program objectives are to: 1) develop the basic fundamentals of the game (passing, receiving, 1v1 skills, ball mastery); and 2) promote creative and thoughtful players. Coaches in the Academy program are instructed to focus and teach the fundamentals of the game. This will include Physical development, Psychological self-worth and Social development.

Academy Culture

Academy players will be educated on the field as well as in classroom opportunities to make them more tactically aware and help them grow a true love for the game. Included in the curriculum is a commitment to technical and tactical development as well as video and game analysis vital in the overall education of the players.

Establishing proper and consistent training habits for athletes will be a top priority in the Academy program.

The Academy program will also implement a common warm-up routine that teams will conduct before games and focus on similar activities in training sessions. Academy staff will be committed to this total teaching environment. All Academy staff will report their progress to the club Director of Coaching (DOC) on a seasonal basis. The DOC will conduct educational classes, courses and meetings as needed during the program.

Recreational into Academy

The Academy will benefit from the Recreational program. Each year Youth staff under the direction of Youth Director, Christina Lewis, will identify approximately 30 Youth players to be considered for the Academy.

The Recreational will have three levels of identification

Level 1: Identification (U7 Recreational )

Players are evaluated by the Sporting Nebraska FC Recreational & Academy staff during training sessions and at their in-house games. The staff will continue to meet and discuss players throughout the year. At the end of the year players are invited to come to the Academy Open House events. AOH is open to any player U7-U9 that is interested in our Academy program. These are free sessions run by the Academy staff. At the conclusion of the AOH events, players that they staff feel are ready will be invited into the Pre-Academy (U8) or Academy (U9) for the following soccer year.

Level 2: Pre-Academy

For Pre-Academy, a pool of approximately 20-30 players will be invited to participate modified version of our Academy. These player will train just like our Academy groups with an Academy staff coach. The will play either in the in-house program or a local league. This program is setup to run year round. Not everyone chooses to do Pre-Academy, and that is okay. That is why the staff continues to evaluate players at the U8 & U9 age groups. Players that they feel are ready will offered spots in the program.

Level 3: Academy Selection

The full Academy program starts at U9 and goes through U10. Our Academy is designed for players for the next level of competition. The development will be driven to prepare players looking to continue a higher level of play and prepare them for tryouts into our Competitive program at U11. We encourage multi-sport athletes in our program as long as a base level of commitment can be fulfilled and during soccer season soccer is their primary sport.
